Yu Seok Youn is a professor at the School of Pharmacy in Sungkyunkwan University. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 2004, from the School of Pharmacy at Sungkyunkwan University. Following this, he conducted postdoctoral research at Prof. You Han Bae’s lab and the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Utah (2006-2007). He joined the School of Pharmacy at Sungkyunkwan University in 2011, after serving as an assistant professor at the College of Pharmacy, Pusan National University, from 2007 to 2011. He has made contributions to the field, serving as an associate editor and editor (2011-2022) of the Archives of Pharmacal Research (APR). Now he serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Controlled Release (JCR) since 2024. He has also been an editorial board member for JCR (2021~) and the Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (2012~). He has held the positions of ‘Chief’ of the Academic Program Committee for the International Conferences and ‘Secretary General’ in the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology (KSPST) and the Controlled Release Society (CRS) Korea Chapter (2022-2023). Moreover, he served as a member of Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) of 2026 CRS Lisbon. For over 20 years, his research has focused on various topics such as cancer-targeted therapy using multifunctional nanoparticles, photoreactive inorganic nano/biomaterials, and inhalation delivery systems for treating lung diseases. Throughout his career, Prof. Youn has authored over 238 SCI papers since 2001.
